GOTCHAPON!
Art direction ⏾ character design ⏾ 2d+3D ASSETS
Gotchapon is an action roguelite adventure where you build and control a unique team of battling creatures to take on hordes of monsters and save your city from destruction. Currently in development this game rolls together all my passions for collectibles, character design and miniature worlds.

Our hero Wren. We want him to have a real working Joe kind of vibe but also with that protagonist flair of a charming persona and slightly self conscious edgyness of the part time MC that he is.

The Pon. I want them to be unique and iconic as the best collectible character games, with the roster featuring some truly out-there heroes. 

In this concept Wren and his team are in the midst of a battle, the expressive hand-drawn 2D characters exploding off the rich 3D city, each Pon super distinctive and bursting with personality. 

I put together a Unity screen test to see how the concept will translate to engine. The results are really exciting, seeing the sense of perspective shift and the 2D sprites are super legible and crisp.

RETRO FUTURE
 an unrestrained take on ART STYLE
For Gotchapon I want to hit the player with a fresh take on that early 2000s hyper-graphical and super expressive style. I'm taking inspiration from retro-future cityscapes, as well as the graphic design and vibrant character approach seen here.

I want the UI to maintain that super collectible quality, this mock is very inspired by the likes of Splatoon and Dreamcast era graphic style
